You can map a custom domain to your profile as well as to any of your projects.
Before you start
Purchase a new domain via our partners at ‘I Want My Name’ or, if you already own a domain name, proceed further.
More about DNS
In order to change DNS settings, you need to have name servers (NS) assigned to your domain. In most cases you can simply use the default nameservers provided by your domain registrar.
Your provider must offer full DNS access in order to map a custom domain to Readymag.
Step 1: Configure domain name
Purchase a ready-to-use domain
Visit our partners at ‘I Want My Name’ to purchase a domain name that already has A record set for Readymag. After that, you can skip to Step 2.
Connect an existing domain to Readymag
- Find the DNS settings in the administrative panel of your domain provider.
- Create DNS records for each domain name you want to use with Readymag.
Second-level domain name: yourdomain.com
| Host: | @ |
| Type: | A |
| Point To (Value): | 54.194.41.141 |
Depending on the provider, you may already have some existing A records for your domain. Make sure there is only one record with A Type and @ Host matching the values above.
If you have an email service connected to your custom domain, such as G Suite or Yandex. Connect, make sure not to delete any MX records associated with it.
The “www” subdomain: www.yourdomain.com
| Host: | www |
| Type: | CNAME |
| Point To (Value): | domains.readymag.com |
Other subdomains, e.g., portfolio.yourdomain.com
| Host: | portfolio |
| Type: | CNAME |
| Point To (Value): | domains.readymag.com |
In the Host field for a subdomain record, you need to specify the part of the domain name before the second dot from the end—e.g., if the subdomain name is portfolio.yourdomain.com, type in ‘portfolio.’
Note: SSL will not be issued on subdomains containing the underscore character ( _ ) e.g., my_hostname.domain.com.
Note: If iPv6 is enabled, it is not possible to map a domain name and SSL cannot be issued. To disable iPv6, remove the AAAA-record in your DNS-settings.
Step 2: Wait and test
If all DNS records are entered correctly, your domain will be connected to Readymag servers within a couple of hours. This process may take up to 72 hours. Once the domain is correctly linked, you will be able to use it on Readymag—proceed to Step 3. Otherwise, check the DNS settings again or contact your domain provider’s support.
Step 3: Map domain
To a profile page. Open your Profile Settings and select Domain.
To a project. Open your Project Settings and click the Domain tab.
Type in your domain name and press Test. If the domain is configured correctly, the Map Now button will appear. Click it to complete the process, or return to the previous steps to change your domain’s DNS records.
